National Public Speaking Competition 2019

É com gosto que a Direção da APPI divulga a iniciativa de English-Speaking Union Portugal em que a APPI está filiada e que apresenta a seguir.
"Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am writing to teachers all over Portugal who are on our database with news of next year’s NPSC. Please pass on the information to colleagues and friends at other schools who may not have taken part previously.
I am enclosing information on the International Public Speaking Competition (ages: 16-20) which contains ideas on how to prepare your students (download here: Guidance-for-IPSC-Speakers ). The rules of the National Competition are very similar. Please note, however that questions will not be put to NPSC competitors, except in the unlikely event that the judges in the Final Round are faced with a virtual tie between competing students.
In order to be able to comply with the deadlines for the IPSC 2018 Finals in London, our National Competition will be held on Sunday March 31st, 2019
I am delighted to announce that, once again, due to the generosity and support of the British Council, the Final Round of the Competition will be held in the wonderful old Conference Room at the BC in Lisbon. Preliminary rounds will be held as in previous years in other rooms at the BC.
The theme for the NPSC will be “Nature is a common language”.
As in previous years the winner of the NPSC will represent Portugal at the International Finals.
Just to remind you once again, competitor schools need to be members of the ESU Portugal for the current year. School membership for is 50€. Membership fees are payable up to the date of the NPSC and we can issue an invoice should you require one. For the moment we are limiting schools to two competitors, who should be over 16 years of age, but depending on time and space , we may consider admitting a third competitor from each school as we approach the date of the Finals. Please let us know of your intention to take part by 1stFebruary, at the close of play. The names of your competitors and the titles of their 5-minute speeches will not be required until the end of February.
