“What are the cultural factors in a situation?” is the most prominent question in the field of intercultural competence and communication. It is the core of intercultural trainings, coachings and workshops. And all the answers relate to what is meant by “culture”. After decades of academic discourse Intercultural Communication has become a very complex field, also politically. Culture reflexivity combines 3 meta-perspectives and is drawn from challenges in everyday practice as well as from theoretical approaches. First and foremost this approach reflects the knowledge we use when training, coaching or speaking in any given context. Starting from a critical incident, the webinar demonstrates the use of a culture- reflexive approach for finding solutions and explains what culture reflexivity is and why I find it helpful. I look forward to our discussion.

Prof. Dr. Kirsten Nazarkiewicz:

teaches Intercultural Communication at the Fulda University of Applied Sciences. There she is leading a bilingual and multinational Master programme on Intercultural Communication and European Studies. Her Background is in sociology, psychology and adult education and she is founder and partner of consilia cct, a company that has been fostering culture competence for organisations and individuals since 1996 in all kinds of working fields. She is a long-time member of SIETAR and had lead the Frankfurt regional group for many years together with her business partner Gesa Krämer.
