TEASIG (Testing, Evaluation & Assessment): 'Multiple choice items - What they are good for and how to write them' | 12th May, 17:00
"A TEASIG webinar presented by Glyn Jones
TEASIG's webinar series continues with this really interesting topic of interest to all teachers and testers. So to get you thinking, try this multiple-choice item yourself. Choose the correct answer (if you think there is one!)...
Multiple choice items are…
A. an indispensable part of any language test.
B. no use at all for assessing language skills.
C. useful for assessing some constructs.
Glyn will be discussing the three elements above in attempting to answer this question, and he will offer some tips for writing effective multiple choice items. He will also consider some much-discussed issues such as the optimum number of options, as well as touching on some variants of the multiple choice format such as true/false items. "
