Judy Gilbert - 'Teaching Pronunciation: Simplicity is the Key'

This session presents a way to make pronunciation teaching more effective, using a simple pyramid graphic of the musical cues (prosody) essential to all the main forms of spoken English. Other languages use different systems to organize information and therefore transference of the first language system tends to seriously reduce intelligibility in English. This is because English prosody affects all aspects of the spoken language, so without addressing the basic system, time and energy spent working on individual English sounds will be inefficient. Please come to the webinar with a big rubber band to use as a pedagogical gadget (not a dinky one that might break).
