'IATEFL has 15 Special Interest Groups (SIGs) which aim to give teachers professional development opportunities including the chance to share knowledge and best practices in specific areas of English Language Teaching. In the last few years, online video has been embraced and reinvented by young people. In this webinar, I would like to examine a number of recent case studies which serve to introduce you to YouTube youth cultures. Be warned - you may be shocked! Finally, I will talk about why an understanding of this can be useful for teachers who work with teenagers.

Jamie Keddie is a teacher, trainer and international conference speaker. He is the founder of the recently-relaunched Lessonstream. Jamie’s areas of interest include the use of visual materials, storytelling and video technologies in the classroom. His publications include ‘Images’ (OUP 2009) and ‘Bringing online video into the classroom’ (OUP 2014).
