"Social justice and other challenging issues are addressed through telling stories from the world’s oral cultures. What students learn from a story is not simply what happens in the story but in their response to it. In this highly interactive workshop we will try out creative response tasks which lead to insights about how to make the world better. We will explore how to engage students in creative communication in the English language classroom through simple learner-centred and purposeful storytelling and drama activities designed to get students talking freely and fluently. Through storytelling we can offer our students opportunities to engage creatively and positively with local and global issues.
