"The webinar will focus on a range of activities which are all based on powerful and memorable short texts: e.g. quotations, mini sagas, poems, riddles. I will show how these can trigger meaningful conversation, creative writing, as well as focussed and motivating language work. One of the key messages of the webinar is that content matters, so it's important to work with short texts that are language rich, and which raise issues that are relevant and which matter deeply to our students. A deeper sense of connection and meaning can begin to stir the imagination of our learners. I will demonstrate the activities with  texts that are suitable from lower-intermediate levels and upwards. I have used all the texts and activity types both online and face-to-face with learners and teachers in many different contexts.
