PronSIG: Intelligi…. Sorry, what did you say?
A PronSIG webinar presented by Robin Walker | 27/06/2020 – 10:30
“The 2018 CEFR update has completely new descriptors for the area of phonological control. The goal of native-speakerness has been rejected in favour of intelligibility. But what exactly does it mean to say that somebody is intelligible? And what are the consequences of a goal of intelligibility for pronunciation teaching in ELT in the 21st century?
In this webinar the presenter will discuss;
- Intelligibility past and present of the term
- What do we mean by intelligibility?
- How can we measure intelligibility?
- Can we teach intelligibility?
