ELTons 2020: Applications open for international English language teaching awards! | Friday, 8 November, 23.59 (UK time)
Date(s) - 01/11/2019 - 08/11/2019
At the prestigious ELTons Awards ceremony this summer we were delighted to recognise the most impressive innovation in our sector globally. We celebrated worthy finalists and winners, whose innovations are finding new ways to help English language learners and teachers around the world achieve their goals. The awards also recognised the organisations, teams and individuals whose original approaches are helping to shape the future of English language teaching and learning.
The call for applications to the 18th ELTons Awards for Innovation in English language teaching is now open.
Applications are accepted by Friday, 8 November, 23.59 (UK time).
We’re looking for entries which have been developed in the last two years, which demonstrate excellence in innovation and functionality in support of helping English language teachers and learners meet their goals, across the full breadth of media (non-digital or digital) and from a wide variety of contexts worldwide. There are five award categories, including for courses, teacher and learner resources, for digital innovation and for local innovation.
We welcome and encourage applications from all backgrounds, from large organisations and start-ups, to government programmes and individual entrepreneurs, as well as those in low-resource contexts. In 2019, we received 150 entries from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, spanning the different needs of English language learners at every age, in diverse contexts. Applications are assessed by panels of expert judges, independently, individually and behind closed doors (using the Delphi method).
If you, your colleagues, or someone in your network, has been involved in the production of new and original courses, publications, projects, apps, platforms and more in support of high quality English language education in the last two years, we trust this opportunity would be of interest.
How is ELTons 2020 special?
This year, to mark the ELTons 18th anniversary, we also are pleased to introduce the ELTons Judges’ Commendation for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). This is a special commendation for finalists which promote proactive and positive approaches to equality, diversity and inclusion in English language teaching, learning and assessment. The commendation aims to celebrate the courses, books, apps, resources and projects which bridge educational inequality, reflect diversity and/or promote inclusion of certain, typically underrepresented groups. The commendation is intended to encourage improving access to high quality English language teaching for all, and specifically for those who may not typically get access.
How to apply?
If you’re interested in submitting your innovation the deadline is Friday 8 November, 23:59 (UK time).
More information about how to apply and submit your application can be found on the ELTons website.
If you have any questions, please let me know, or contact the ELTons team directly, via email.
88% of ELTons winners and finalists during the past decade reported increased visibility for their work and brands through the awards, and more than half used the awards to generate new business and to expand their networks. Those making it through as an ELTons’ finalist will be invited to the highly anticipated ELTons awards’ ceremony, held in London in June 2020.
We’d be very grateful for you to also share this call with your contacts, colleagues, partners, networks and audiences, who you think would be interested in submitting an entry.
